My Fire is Brighter

You asked me why you didn’t see me in town today…

My friend, I was tired…my oil was dry.

I looked at my lamp, it was going dim.

Before the count of three I took my shoes in my hands,

Looked for the loneliest path and ran into the wilderness

Into the cave of adullam

man-running-in-wilderness

There I laid my head on a stone and took the scrolls in front of my eyes

I communed with the eternal and strengthened my soul

Before the moon opened its eyes I carried myself on my legs

Left with the last of the locusts and wild honey

I packed my bag and took my walk

My spirit is fatter, my strength is back, my fire is brighter!
